Reflux
Yes, this blog is still alive, and better yet, so am I!
Several months ago, durdenkent and others, including myself, posted about feeling and/or being in a state of flux. That is where I am once again. My job technically should have gone from full-time to part-time a couple of weeks ago, but the third teacher in our room put in short notice so I am picking up half of her hours until a new teacher is hired. I may wind up with that position, but have to do my third interview for basically the same spot and hope that a better candidate doesn't come along.
Sorry, this is sounding more like a Live Journal entry!
I have been having lots of fun with MartaCycle; we have just hit our version 1.5.
I had a blast (with the aforementioned MartaCycle) seeing Stan Ridgway at Doug Fir last week. I was pleasantly surprised when he played three songs from the first Wall of Voodoo album, but was jubilant when, quite unexpectedly to me, the first scratchy keyboard strains of Wall of Voodoo's brilliant, amazing, perhaps-the-best-cover-version-of-all-time introduction to "Ring of Fire" began. I was floored! I thought that the last time I would ever hear that and the brilliant "Call of the West" live took place about 20 years ago!
Comcast Rhapsody --- from Kate Bush's "The Big Sky" to Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" on my "Leonard Cohen et al" radio station . . .
